Development of cost databases and support for project management teams **Cost Estimation Engineer** **Job Title:** Cost Estimation Engineer **Job Summary:** The Cost Estimation Engineer prepares and analyzes project cost estimates with high accuracy by studying drawings, specifications, and technical data, aiming to support pricing decisions, enhance competitiveness, and ensure organizational profitability. **Responsibilities and Duties:** * Prepare preliminary and detailed cost estimates for projects (CAPEX / OPEX). * Analyze engineering drawings and Bills of Quantities (BOQ). * Calculate quantities of materials, labor, equipment, and associated costs. * Prepare and price bids and tenders according to client requirements. * Review supplier and contractor proposals and conduct technical and financial comparisons. * Develop and continuously update the Cost Database. * Conduct variance analysis between estimated and actual costs. * Support project management teams in cost monitoring and control. * Use estimation software and tools such as Excel, Primavera, or specialized applications. * Prepare periodic reports and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce costs. **Qualifications and Requirements:** * Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil / Mechanical / Electrical) or Construction Management. * 3–8 years of experience in cost estimation (preferably within the same sector). * Strong experience reading drawings and technical specifications. * Knowledge of local and global market prices for materials and services. * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and planning software (e.g., Primavera P6\). * Strong analytical skills and calculation accuracy. * Proficiency in English (Arabic is an added advantage). **Core Competencies:** * Financial analysis and cost management. * Negotiation skills and supplier management. * Time management and adherence to deadlines. * Effective communication and teamwork. * Critical thinking and decision-making. **Additional Preferred Qualifications:** * Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle. * Professional certifications such as: * CCP (Certified Cost Professional) * PMP (Project Management Professional) * Experience in EPC projects or large-scale projects. **Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):** * Accuracy of estimates versus actual costs. * Bid win rate. * Adherence to bid submission timelines. * Reduction of cost variances.
