**Overview** The **NOC L1 Engineer** is responsible for **monitoring and maintaining** network systems to ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation. This role provides **first\-line technical support**, identifies network incidents, performs basic troubleshooting, and escalates issues to Level 2 or field teams when required. **Key Responsibilities** * 24/7 **monitoring of network infrastructure** (routers, switches, microwave, fiber links, base stations, servers, etc.) using tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or HP NNMi. * **Acknowledge and log network alerts** and create incident tickets in systems like ServiceNow or Remedy. * Perform **initial troubleshooting** — ping, traceroute, interface check, port status, and connectivity testing. * **Escalate unresolved or critical incidents** to NOC L2 or Field Engineers as per escalation matrix. * Monitor and track **link performance, latency, and bandwidth utilization**. * **Coordinate with vendors, field teams, and clients** to ensure timely fault resolution. * Update and maintain **incident logs, shift reports, and network documentation**. * Follow **Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)** for issue handling and escalation. * Ensure compliance with **Service Level Agreements (SLAs)** and report any potential breaches. * Participate in **shift handovers**, sharing network status and ongoing issues with the next shift. **Required Skills** * Strong understanding of **TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and basic routing/switching concepts**. * Familiarity with **network devices** (Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, etc.) and **monitoring tools**. * Basic knowledge of **LAN/WAN technologies, fiber, and wireless networks**. * Good communication and coordination skills. * Ability to **work in 24x7 shift rotation** (including nights/weekends). **Qualifications** * Bachelor’s degree in **Telecommunications, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field**. * **Certifications (Preferred):** * CCNA / CompTIA Network\+ / JNCIA or equivalent entry\-level certification.
