**Job Summary**
Serves as the hotel's Strategic Finance Leader. This position champions, develops, and implements hotel-wide strategies to deliver products and services that meet or exceed the needs and expectations of the brand's target guests and hotel employees. The role requires financial expertise to successfully implement brand service strategies and initiatives while maximizing return on investment. Additionally, it involves developing and executing business plans aligned with hotel and brand business strategies, and focusing on executing financial activities and achieving desired financial performance.
**Candidate Profile**
**Education and Experience Requirements**
* Four-year bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting or related field; 3 years of experience in Finance/Accounting or related field.
Or
* Master's degree in Finance/Accounting or related field; 1 year of experience in Finance/Accounting or related field.
**Core Work Activities**
**Engage in Strategic Planning and Decision-Making**
* Develop profit-enhancing initiatives, including cost and revenue estimation and exploration of new business opportunities.
* Analyze information, forecast sales and expenses, and develop annual budget plans.
* Gather relevant information, analyze, and monitor actual versus forecasted sales.
* Analyze variances between actual and forecasted payroll to improve budget planning efficiency.
* Identify fundamental principles, causes, or facts by breaking down information or data into separate components.
* Think creatively and practically to formulate, execute, and implement new business plans.
* Develop the hotel's annual operating budget.
* Provide analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost-saving and efficiency-improvement opportunities for hotel management.
* Implement appropriate systematic controls to manage business risk.
* Ensure a strong accounting and operational control environment to protect assets and improve operations and profitability.
* Analyze financial data and market trends.
* Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive annual business plan aligned with corporate and brand strategic direction.
* Provide ongoing analytical support by monitoring actual and forecasted sales across operational departments.
* Generate accurate forecasts enabling operations to respond to business changes.
**Lead the Finance Team**
* Use interpersonal and communication skills to guide, influence, and motivate others; advocate sound financial/business decisions; demonstrate honesty/integrity; lead by example.
* Clearly and concisely communicate strategic goals, priorities, and owner priorities to direct reports.
* Leverage strong functional leadership and communication skills to influence the executive team, hotel strategy, and lead one's own team.
* Oversee internal, external, and regulatory audit processes.
* Provide excellent leadership by assigning clear accountability to team members and managers across other departments, supported by appropriate departmental resources.
* Conduct annual performance evaluations with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
**Anticipate and Deliver on Key Stakeholder Needs**
* Attend meetings and communicate with owners to understand priorities and strategic focus areas.
* Understand and meet the needs of key stakeholders (e.g., owners, company, guests).
* Advise the General Manager and Executive Committee on existing and evolving operational/financial issues.
* Communicate financial concepts clearly and persuasively in an easily understandable manner that drives desired behaviors.
* Demonstrate understanding of cash flow and owner priorities.
* Communicate effectively with owners.
* Manage the hotel's working capital and cash flow per brand SOPs and owner requirements.
* Facilitate evaluation meetings with the management team to review information.
**Develop and Maintain Financial Objectives**
* Ensure accurate recording of profit and loss.
* Monitor all applicable taxes to ensure they are current and/or accrued.
* Submit reports timely to meet delivery deadlines.
* Develop and support achievement of performance goals, budget goals, and team goals.
* Promote profit growth in operational departments.
* Review audit findings to ensure accuracy.
* Oversee procurement processes as applicable.
**Manage Projects and Policies**
* Generate and deliver accurate, timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc.
* Reconcile the balance sheet per SOPs to ensure account balances are adequately supported by documentation.
* Ensure accuracy of profit and loss (e.g., costs matched appropriately with revenues; costs recorded in correct accounts).
* Ensure compliance with management contracts and reporting requirements.
* Ensure adherence to standards and local operating procedures.
* Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
**Manage and Conduct Human Resources Activities**
* Ensure team members receive cross-training to support successful day-to-day operations.
* Ensure hotel policies are applied fairly and consistently.
* Ensure new employees participate in the department's onboarding training program.
* Ensure new employees receive appropriate onboarding training to successfully fulfill their responsibilities.
* Develop tailored development plans that build team members' capabilities based on individual strengths, development needs, career aspirations, and competencies.
* Conduct employee performance evaluation processes.
* Participate in recruitment activities as appropriate.
