Opportunity to work with automation tools and collaborate with technical teams **Systems Administrator — Job Description** **Role summary** A Systems Administrator manages an organization’s servers, operating systems, and core infrastructure. The role includes installing, configuring, patching, monitoring, troubleshooting, and securing systems, along with supporting users, automation, and maintaining service availability. **Key responsibilities** * Install, configure, and maintain servers and operating systems (Windows/Linux). * Manage system patching, upgrades, and lifecycle planning. * Monitor system health, performance, and availability; investigate and resolve incidents. * Troubleshoot infrastructure issues (network, storage, identity/auth, application dependencies). * Manage backups, restores, disaster recovery support, and backup verification. * Configure user access, permissions, and authentication/authorization integration (AD/LDAP/SSO). * Administer storage and file systems; manage disk space, quotas, and capacity planning. * Maintain virtualization and container environments (VMware/Hyper\-V/KVM; Docker/Kubernetes as applicable). * Manage configuration tools and automation (scripts, Ansible/SCCM/Intune/PowerShell, etc.). * Implement and maintain security baselines (hardening, logging, vulnerability remediation). * Manage tickets and document solutions; maintain runbooks and system documentation. * Coordinate with network, security, and application teams on changes and escalations. * Support end users and business applications that run on managed infrastructure. * Create and execute change plans for maintenance windows and upgrades. **Required qualifications** * Hands\-on experience administering Windows and/or Linux servers. * Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing basics). * Experience with monitoring/alerting and log review. * Proficiency with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar). * Understanding of backup concepts and restore testing. * Familiarity with identity and access management (AD/Entra ID/LDAP/SSO). * Working knowledge of security fundamentals (patching, least privilege, auditing/logging). * Experience with ticketing/ITSM tools (ServiceNow/Jira/etc.). **Preferred qualifications** * Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper\-V). * Experience with cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP) or hybrid environments. * Knowledge of configuration management/automation (Ansible, Terraform, SCCM, etc.). * Experience with monitoring stacks (e.g., Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus/Grafana). * Knowledge of storage systems (SAN/NAS) and performance troubleshooting. * Familiarity with compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA/GDPR—if relevant). **Skills and competencies** * Strong troubleshooting and root\-cause analysis. * Reliable judgment and follow\-through on fixes and preventive actions. * Clear technical communication and good documentation. * Ability to prioritize incidents and changes with minimal downtime. * Security\-minded operations and comfort working with access controls.
